Clay & Concrete Tiles

Tile is a high-quality and long-lasting material. Whether you decide on Clay or Concrete tiles, it will give your home a beautiful look. A tile's color and elegance can last far longer than wood or asphalt shingles. The endurance and durability of tiles, depends on their correct placement.

Clay Tiles

Clay tile are made from baked molded clay. There are a variety of colors: however, the most common clay tile is Terra-cotta. Due to their low absorption, clay tiles requires less maintenance. Clay tiles are great insulators as they absorb heat, but do not conduct it. They are a strong and durable material. Despite their durability, they are brittle and can break. It is not recommended to walk on them. Clay tiles do have a Class A fire rating. A Class A fire rating is considered to be highly fire resistant. They are considered to hold up against exposure to direct flames without catching fire.

Concrete Tiles

Concrete tiles are made similarly to regular concrete: a mixture of sand, cement, and water that is molded under heat and high pressure. Concrete tiles can simulate the look of other types of roofing, including clay, wood shake, slate or stone tiles. Concrete tiles do require more maintenance because they have a high water absorption rate. They are one of the strongest roofing materials and impact-resistant. The tiles can be brittle if they are walked on incorrectly during repairs or maintenance. Concrete tiles do have a Class A fire rating. A Class A rating is considered to be highly fire resistant. They are considered to hold up against exposure to direct flames without catching fire.
