Tile Relay

A tile relay involves the lifting of existing roof tiles, replacing the underlayment, and then reinstalling the existing tiles. The primary goal of a tile relay is to address issues with the underlayment without requiring a full roof replacement.

There are benefits to having a tile relay done on your roof.

  • Extended lifespan: if your underlayment is damages, a tile relay can significantly extend the lifespan of a tile roof.
  • Cost-effective: In many cases, a tile relay is more cost-effective solution than a full roof replacement, especially if the tiles themselves are still in good condition.

When to consider a tile relay:

  • Damaged underlayment: if the underlayment is showing signs of wear and tear, such as tears, cracks or missing sections.
  • Leaking roof: If you’re experiencing leaks in your roof, a tile relay may be a good option to address the underlying issues.
  • Age of the roof: If your tile roof is approaching or has surpassed the typical lifespan of 20-25 years, it might be time to consider a tile relay.

The Process:

1. Inspections

Before we begin removing old materials, we must conduct an inspection. This helps us to identify places where additional work, such as roof decking replacement or attic venting repairs, may be required. This inspection takes place as part of your free estimate.

2. Material Removal

We will carefully stack tiles on top of one another. We will removed the old underlayment and decaying decking.

All of these materials are disposed of utilizing garbage containers such as dump trucks or portable dumpsters.

3. Roof Sheathing

During your initial inspection, our inspector will inspect the roof for any weakness in your decking.

However, we won't exactly know how much dry rot is on your roof deck will be replaced until the entire roofing material is removed.

The final stage of construction is to clear the workplace of any debris and clean up any materials that have been left behind. During the project, we will perform daily end-of-day clean-ups. We will ensure that there is no trash left behind. We will also ensure to use a magnetic to pick up any nails that fall on the floor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at Roofinginnovationscalifornia@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

This varies due to many factors, such as: the size of the roof, the type of roofing material, delays due to rainy weather, and city inspections. Majority of roof replacements take about 2-3 weeks.

There isn't much of a difference between these two. With a tile relay, we are reinstalling the existing tile. Compared to a new tile roof, where the existing tiles are disposed of and new tiles are being installed. Cost is a big factor on which project a client might decide to go with.
